Newtown
This project, located in Newtown, comprised of the restoration and refurbishment of the existing heritage listed house with a new two storey extension at the rear of the property.
The addition has been purposefully positioned and designed to create a private internal courtyard whilst still allowing in sunlight, as well as cross ventilation.
The environmental credentials of the building are further enhanced by the materials used to construct it. A polished concrete floor and reverse brick veneer construction create a high thermal mass which is then utilised by the in-floor heating system to efficiently warm the house.
The highly insulated walls, ceiling and roof also help in creating a comfortable living environment.
Finally, the building is finished off in zinc cladding which creates an elegant and distinct look whilst still being complementary to the existing house.
